I learned the same type of italic handwriting talked about in the Slate article, and I feel I have a large advantage over people who write illegibly. Although it is nice to be complimented on pretty writing, it’s even nicer for people to be able to read it! I think good handwriting skills remain important as long as we’re still writing at all, even as typing increases in predominance. I also agree that physically writing something does much more to cement it in my memory than typing it.
Whether or not handwriting is still a “necessary” skill, my children are definitely going to learn it!

I found long ago that my personal best method of learning was to write something. Once I took notes, I KNEW the material, much better than reading it or hearing it. But in my case it doesn’t matter whether I type, print, or write it in script. My handwriting was much better when I was a student!

Loved the misspelled signs. In a situation like that I’d want to make sure that there were no glaringmistakes. Why make yourself such an easy target?

About the \5 Facts About Woodstock\ I recently watched a documentary that said only 2 people died at Woodstock. Not 3. I don’t know where they got the story about the man whose appendix burst but i hadn’t heard that one. and In the article it says that tickets were $16 but in reality they were only $8. I like reading articles on Cracked.com because most of the time they are pretty funny but that one just failed to amuse me in any way. I don’t see anything wrong with the musicians demanding to be paid beforehand. Of course they wanted to be paid. They weren’t going to do it for free. and they act like the people who put Woodstock together, lied about there being a gate/fence around the venue but really the hippies just tore it down when they got there. I think the person who wrote that article did a poor job on checking facts and they seem to just really hate hippies. I love mentalfloss and Im kind of surprised you guys shared that link. Im just a little disappointed by that.
