Kari, I live in Cookeville and have been following this. The Jamestown city council was in fact trying to rush demolition ahead of the foundation’s fundraising. I thought it was terribly sad that that the city was trying so hard to tear down the building that many so obviously wanted to keep.

I’ve heard an account of York’s life told by one of his sons who is still alive. Really an average man who didn’t back down and found greatness, who sought to help others to do the same.

Kari, I live just up the road in Clarkrange. Folks need to know that York Agricultural Institute not only still exists but, as one of the two High Schools in Fentress County, graduates seniors each year who are National Merit Scholars and distinguished members of our community.

why don’t they use stimulus funds for something cool like this? rather than useless new roads or a “security” checkpoint in the middle of nowhere??? (sorry to get political. haha!)

I live in Jamestown TN visited the Mill and the house he was born in it was really small they have a York shootout every year and the city is trying to save the old school from being torn down I hope they get the funds they need.
