Anyone remember that idiot in SC a couple years back that was convicted of “buggery” with a horse? Twice.

I find it interesting that these animals were put to trial and tried as if they had some sort of common sense. :D

The only story I know similar to that is in the Old Testament, if an ox was prone to violence and the owner was aware of it, and if it then killed a person not antagonizing it, then both the ox and the owner were to be put to death–the ox because he was dangerous to their society, and the owner because he was negligent.

This is probably the most unusual blog post i have ever read. It was however, very informative and entertaining. I just can’t understand what people were thinking to try an animal that obviously did not know what was going on at all. Very outside the box. Kudos

Come on Rob, your farm boy upbringing is coming out in this one. People today do not understand just how closely the people of that period in history, considered their animals as part of their family and community. In most communities, the animals lived under the same roof ans the family. These people depended on the animals to exist. It is not hard to see how they would place the animals on the same social level as a human. Without them, they die! GREAT BLOG

Peta is about ethical treatment of animals. Animals do not have the same moral guidelines as us, don’t have an understanding of how our society works, and shouldn’t be forced into a situation that harms their own way of life. Peta, I believe would be outraged at a court hearing treating an animal as a human.

Peta just wants animals left alone and treated with respect, and not used in vein.

Let’s think about this a moment, where would PETA stand on this. By giving an animal a ‘fair’ trial, that animal is treated as the equal of man. It seems by the article that punishments were doled out along the same guidlines as human punishments. Is’nt PETA all about animals NOT being second class citizens?

Great post! I have a lawyer friend who, back in law school, had to defend the cockroaches that were overrunning their campus against another student. It was for a class exercise. I always thought that was a cool assignment.
