The citizens of many other nations make light of America’s lack of knowledge of the world beyond their borders. And it’s true; few Americans could point to Senegal or the Aral Sea on an unlabeled map. But surely we know the nations on our own continent, right? All 23 of them? Even with a head start of seven countries, we dare you to ace this quiz and name the 16 others.

  1. I missed 3, not bad…

  2. Not bad at all, Paul!

  3. I missed 5 when I finally realized that Central America was actually North America. Really got burned on the Dominica Dominican Republic thing, though.

  4. I could not for the life of me remember how to spell Guatatamala…see, I still mispelled it. I did get the Dominica and Dominican Republic, but I missed St. Lucia and Barbados….I was totally singing the Beach Boys song to see if any island names came up that I forgot…lol.

  5. Got all of them except Saint Lucia. Thought it was part of the Netherlands Antilles.

  6. I love your geography quizzes. I play the Geography Challenge game you have in the trivia section almost every time I visit the site. I am weak on island nations and missed 4 here and also Costa Rica.

  7. 10/16 – I was trying to recall all of Yakko Warner’s countries of the world song, but totally froze up. Forgot about St. Lucia and Nicaragua (among others – don’t want to spoil the quiz too much!).

  8. Like Josh, I only missed Saint Lucia… hard to keep those Dutch colonies straight.

  9. Missed 3-without giving too much away I missed 1 Central American and 2 island nations.

  10. I spent forever trying to type in Guatemala before I realized it wasn’t on the list. Isn’t it right next to Mexico?

  11. Got all…I’m from Trinidad though, so naming our neighbours wasn’t too difficult. Love the geography quizzes. Also, as far as I know St. Lucia had been fought over by the English & French – it never was Dutch.

  12. Ha! I got all of them. And I’m not even living in a North American country. I am a geographical genius when it comes to naming countries! Can you please do a quiz on European countries???? Please????
