Fantastic Commercial Photo Studios

Some people have a negative opinion of commercial photography, mistakenly believing it is not an art, and is merely a way to showcase the product being sold. This is a grossly unfair conception. While some commercial images are no more than a product picture, some are imaginative and exceptionally artistic. WebUrbanist has a great collection of the works of 18 cool commercial photography studios.

Carioca Studios created the shocking photos above with the hope that it would bring attention to the plight of children in Romania. The photos were part of the Save the Children project, whose aim was to help protect the rights of kids in the area.

  1. This was disturbing. I clicked on this link because the title says “Fantastic Commercial Photo Studios” and I open the link to see children in bondage photos.

This is in VERY BAD TASTE. Please change the title or put a disclaimer.

  2. Um KJ, did you even read the article? They point out that those images were used in campaign against child abuse in Romania. So yes, they are supposed to be disturbing.

After reading the FULL article, I am now in love with the work that Carioca Studios does. Thanks for the link!

  3. KJ, are you not aware of what these photos are used for?

  4. So we discourage child abuse by showing pictures illustrating child porn? How exactly does that help? More sensitive souls will quickly turn away from such images, while a sad minority get a kick out of them. Bet you those images can be found on child porn sites now. And as for Carioca Studios, did anyone click on the link to their site? WARNING! Don’t go there if you just ate. Shame on Mental Floss!

  5. “More sensitive souls will quickly turn away from such images.”

That’s right. Because nothing bad ever happens to children. Seeing a child starving, or in pain, or a situation like the above is hard to look at. So if we turn our backs, that makes the problem go away, right?

BTW, I see these images and I think, “The treatment of children as less than human is a worldwide problem and should be be stopped”. Not “Child Porn”.

But then again, I don’t have a sensitive soul.

  6. I didn’t see any child porn. What were you looking at? I clicked on all the links, and I saw nothing beyond the \Save the Children\ campaign ( a campaign to protect the rights of kids) that was horrible or disturbing. Read the article BEFORE you post, people!

  7. I read the title of this article and thought “Hmm… this is going to be an article about Fantastic Commercial Photo Studios. Might be interesting.” Then I see these disturbing photos of children. Had the title read “Distubing images of children to illustrate the crisis in Romania” I might STILL have gone to this article but with an ENTIRELY different mind set. OR I might not have because I DON’T ENJOY LOOKING AT CHILD BONDAGE photo shoots.

And NO I did not FOLLOW THE LINK. Why would I when I have a problem with this article HERE? I don’t want to further this distasteful experience.

  8. Um, ‘child porn’? ‘Bondage’? Really people? I can’t say anything remotely sex related even crossed my mind when seeing these.

It looks like this proved to be a nice little Rorschach test for Pam and KJ.
