Klinginem – Rapping Eminem Songs in Klingon (Seriously)
by Chris Higgins - October 26, 2009 - 1:39 PM

So here’s a guy who goes by the name Klinginem, rapping the Eminem jam “Without Me” in Klingon (I’m sorry, tlhIngan Hol for you native speakers). This is possibly the nerdiest thing I’ve seen all year. The one thing I’ll say for it is that it handily demonstrates that the Klingon language is indeed fully-developed…once you can rap in a language, it’s legit. Enjoy the video, including lots of performance shots of Klinginem and his crew. (I would post the Klingon word for ‘crew’ but all the online translation sites I could find are on the fritz at the moment.)

Note: updated spelling of the rapper’s name per commenter Andrew’s suggestion. No need to bring out the bat’leth here.

  1. That just made my Monday!! Thanks!

  2. this is incredible. it’s amazing what some people do with their spare time… :D

  3. Hilarious…and i’m not even a trekkie!

  4. I laughed so hard that I started to cry. Amazing.

  5. I’m strangely impressed… and this is going to all my friends who tell me that *I’m* way out there.

  6. In the video the name is “Klenginem” not Klingenem. You are dealing with folks that split hairs over the difference between “trekkies” and “trekkeres” for Pete’s sake. A typo like this might seriously hurt someone’s nerdy little feelings. They might get the impression that MF staff don’t take this artist seriously.

  7. @Andrew: Do you/how can you take this artist seriously. Don’t get me wrong, I give the guy his props for translating, but c’mon.

    I have so many questions:
Is there anyone fluent enough to appreciate these Klingon raps fully?

How does Eminem feel about this?

How big is the following for this particular act?

    Is it available on iTunes?

  8. Actually my friend can fluenty speak in Klingon and Binary. So indeed there are some people out there that can appreciate it. Me, I just have my Kingon dictionary.
