For many girls around the world, Judy Blume books served as an introduction to the wonders of womanhood, though many of us didn’t fully understand the meaning of what we read until years later (”Special spot?” Can you be more specific?)

Let’s find out how much you remember about the JB books you might have stolen from your older sister.

Take the Quiz: Judy Blume

  1. How fun! This is easily my favorite quiz you guys have ever posted. I will be sending this to about a dozen people.

  2. Yea!! This quiz brought back so many memories. I have just handed over some of my old Judy Blume books to my 9 year old daughter. I am now on a mission to buy “Sally J Freidman” as it has gotten lost and was one of my very favorites.

BTW – Mouse Ellis of “Sheila the Great” lived in Tarrytown, NY, not Maine. It doesn’t change the answer to the question though.

  3. Love this quiz!! So many fond memories!!

  4. Bzzyb, you may very well be right. I think Peter the next door neighbor and his family vacationed in Maine so please forgive the mix up! It’s been a while…

    Yael

  5. Loved this quiz. I wasn’t allowed to read Judy Blume, but found a way… my Grandmother got Judy Blume confused with Beverly Cleary, and forbade me from ready any Beverly Cleary in the house when I stayed there. Judy Blume was safe, though. I never bothered to correct her.

  6. One of my all-time favourite authors. My mom bought me nearly all of her books when I was growing up. I can’t remember how many times I read the Fudge series, Sally J. Freidman, or Then Again Maybe I Won’t. I can’t wait for my two kids to be old enough so I can share Judy Blume with them.

  7. What, no TIGER EYES or IGGY’S HOUSE?

This reminds me of all those books I read as a preteen/teen…

*Paula ‘The Cat Ate my Gymsuit’/There’s a Bat in Bunk 5′ Danzinger

    *Paul ‘The Pigman’ Zindel

*Constance ‘I know you Al’ C Greene

    *Marilyn ‘Peter and Veronica’ Sachs

*Hila ‘Diary of a Frantic Kid Sister’ Colman

  8. I loved this quiz, too! I still remember the first line from Forever…something about how Sybil Davis had been laid by five different guys. I asked my mom what “laid” meant and she took the book away until I was a few years older :)

I did find the covers jarring…I’m used to the circa 1970s covers!!
