To Wulfdog,

I also thought that through most of the book (as well as the show), Pollan et al make the ad nauseum statement that the plants manipulated us as much as we manipulated them. But in one page of his book, Pollan did clearly state that there is no 'conciousness' or 'will' behind evolution. They probably repeat the misleading statement because it sells the show.

Micheal Pollan is a dumbass or he has smoked too much Pot. Why did he keep saying these Plants diversified themselves to attract us. How retarded is that. Anyone with any sense will realize these plants didn't evolve to attract humans. Humans selected for characteristics they liked or wanted. Plants would have been just as happy with any human intervention. Unless he can prove plants think and are therefore able to make rational decisions about who they want to impress. The guy maybe smart in his field of expertise, but comes off looking like an idiot trying to convince people of things they just aren't going to believe.

The show was MARVELOUS. I particularly enjoyed the apple and cannabis segments. Well done, MF.

This is a "family blog," yet you can write posts about insane, gruesome torture devices and techniques but can't go too in-depth about a plant?

I remember working on the book that this documentary is based on when I used to work in publishing. My job was supposed to involve only looking at the typographical elements of a book, but I ended up reading the entire text.

If you like the doc, I would highly recommend the book.
