Kristine, if you ever get the chance to listen to Nina Paley’s commentary (that’s the director) she says they disagree because they’re remembering the versions they were told in the different parts of India. The commentary is almost as good as the film, so check it out!

Thanks for the anthropomorphous bubble-wrap film. It will be a long time before I can shake the crying bubble crying for its mother from my brain. It made me laugh but it was oddly depressing

I love “Sita Sings the Blues”! My sister showed it to me a few months ago.

I love the little details, like at 58:22 when they show her skeleton, they put the fetus skeletons in too!

Also, I find it interesting how the Indians narrating the shadow puppet sections would disagree and change their minds and what not.
