I have to say thanks for the article, too, as Klimt is also one of my favorite artists. His painting The Kiss was the first abstract (?) painting I ever had explained to me -- by my high school German teacher. To learn that there were different meanings in a painting, beyond simply what you see, was such a new concept to me. I really felt it started to open the world to me.

I like the painting's . As for those who think he stole them from ww11, this my veiw| My son is a very good Artist also, as I am there are two types of artist's 1st. they can see a vison and create it from site, 2nd , there are people who see then recreate it in there veiw , and if you look there is alway's something different some where it may be ever so slight that if you are just the viewer you would miss it.So before making a bold statement as to go as far as saying someone stole someone else work, look a little closer. I think there beautiful. If your not a creative person ,I'm sorry for you usly that makes people to be an annal person and way to critical. with not knowing what your even not informed of your critizium. I feel sorry for you. I hope you find something that makes you happy somday, however that takes a vison of of some kind of an eye . or you'll be saying what makes me happy ,I'm steeling [his, her's] idea. Art is another persons view of how they see it, and if you fit in to the 2nd, kind of artist you will be a recreater and if you try to do it ,it will be different because you;ll want to put your own spin on it.

I love Klimt too! My favorite of his paintings is Fulfillment. It's similar to The Kiss, but I like it better.

The Malkovich movie is really terrible. I was totally psyched to see it, being a huge Klimt fan and considering that I was in Vienna in 2005 when it was being filmed...but it was really bad. The directors were trying to make it dreamy and abstract but it ended up confusing, disorienting, and annoying.
