Thanks for the link, Nerak. I agree with his take on denim, for the most part. I think one exception where a jean jacket (or a collared denim shirt) can be worn with jeans is when they are either two distinctly different shades of the same color (blue, usually)or a dead-on match (the same color WITH the same amount of fade). I think the two-tone look is good (especially when the top, either jacket or shirt, is darker than the pants). The worst thing someone can do, though, in my opinion, is wear a jacket and pants or shirt and pants that matched, at one time, but that now one has faded more than the other. It just doesn't look right.

Nerak - Jesse Thorn actually talks a bit more about the jean jacket with jeans issue (although not specifically about women) in this Q&A post:

So I wonder if that bit of advice about not wearing a jean jacket with jeans applies to women too?

This is great! I wash my jeans after 3 wears...which must be too often. My $150 pair of Joe's jeans are WAY too light now. The only catch is that with women's jeans, some stretch out too much. I wish this were more for women so I would know what to do then.

The more time between washings, the better, for Levi's. They only start to feel really good by the 3rd day.

That was applicable to women indeed. Now I will no longer feel apprehensive about how long I go without washing my Levis as it turns out I was instinctually right about wearing them unwashed for months at a time.
