I remember the Dunkin’ Donuts trucks!!! It had a song, that went “Dunk Dunk Dunk Dunk Dunkin’ Donuts” and I remember I made up a dance to it and my mom made me show the guy in the truck and he gave me a free donut.

What on earth does Popeye Doyle have to do with fried chicken? If I was opening up a fried chicken joint, I don’t know if I’d want to draw inspiration from a movie about the international heroin trade. But that just me.

Stacy, L.A. used to have a bakery that brought their goods straight to your door. Helms Bakery had a fleet of trucks that operated just like ice cream trucks. The driver would toot a whistle and everyone on the block would run out to shop. I don’t remember if they carried donuts, but their cupcakes and breads were incredible! One of my fondest memories of elementary school was the Helms Bakery tour my class took. We were all given a mini loaf of bread in a box made out to look like one of their trucks. I still remember the smell of the fresh baked bread when I opened the box. Unfortunately, they shut down in 1969, but their business was quite successful for several decades.
