My question is, since its in a remote place, and is preparation for an end world scenario, how are the people left going to get to it? It's way to remote without certain technologies, which, in an apocolyptic scenario, we are unlikely to have. I'm I the only one who thinks this?

Permafrost does not act as "natural refrigeration" (an oxymoron,, unless you refer to the annual refrigerating of the temperate zones). This seed vault is taking advantage of what our forebears knew as root cellars.

Go 3 feet under the earth's surface at virtually any point on the globe and you'll get a pretty constant temperature that's lower/higher than the surface. If you think about global warming or any temperature disaster, "permafrost" may not be "perma".
