The boycott dates they set didn't go well, but for the first time since 1972 there wasn't a work stoppage in baseball. As a fan, I'd like to think we played a role in that and I think it's because there was such an organized effort and voice coming from the fans. The fans started a petition to have him removed from their team. He was set to break a franchise record of rushing yards(?) in his next game, but the fans didn't want his name associted with the record. The team did release him (Larry Johnson is his name I think), but whether it was due to the fan petition or not, I can't say. . .
