Bob was a close friend of mine. The 6th little known thing about him is that the index finger on his left hand was severed accidentally in the service.

I took care of my parents as a full time job during the late 90s when I first saw Bob Ross. Wow, I was hooked. I tried to paint (it was easy just followed his instructions). Before I knew it - I had wall to wall to wall to wall paintings! I gave some as gifts, I sold some and kept some. What a wonderful guy and what a wonderful and wise gift to the world.

Problem: Ross betrayed Alexander as his former student. Ross stole everything including Alexander's catchphrases (by rewording them). Ross often claimed to have invented the things Alexander invented. Look at "my" website, which is actually the New York Times interview. Just do a page search for the mention of Alexander and read for yourselves! Ross was shameless.

I use to love watching Bob on PBS in the 80's. He was an amazing artist and it was great to watch how he would paint the clouds, "fluffy" just on top, and, of course, the "happy little trees"! I recently came across the old shows being shown on PBS late at night so I started taping them and now I get to love them all over again! Thanks Bob!

Does Steve Ross still paint? I enjoy watching the old Joy of Painting shows, and especially enjoyed the ones that Steve appeared on.

After 67 years of painting and teaching, the sweetest memories have been of Bob Ross and his calming and clever ways. Today my wife and I had a thrill watching one of his shows.
