Martha Wash also provided vocals for the Italian production team known as Black Box, only to have the group fronted by a model, Katrin Quinol, who lipsynched at “live” performances (Katrin had supposedly recorded all the vocals phonetically and couldn’t speak English).

This makes me think of C+C Music Factory using Martha Wash’s vocals for “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” and then using the skinny girl lipsynching in the video because Martha is, um, zaftig. But there was no hiding that voice!

Bamds that never existed-Steam. I forget the particulars, but the song “Kiss him goodbye” was a throw away hit that the real artists didn’t want to be associated with.
