How about “Green, Green” by the New Christy Minstrels?

What is the song by Jim Lowe?

Henry, good remembering on that one. It was from the 1960s, but it was just outside the Top-10 (peaking at #14). Same with Tom Jones’ version of “Green, Green Grass of Home” which stalled at #11.
And Luke, the song is “Green Door,” a plodding piano-based song with a tick-tock beat. “There’s an old piano, and they play it hot behind the Green Door…”

I came up with seven right off. The others, I would have NEVER thought of!

I got four (Onions, River, Tambourine, and Eyed Lady) with no hints, and two more (Ballad…Berets, Little…Apples) with hints. The ones I didn’t get, I wouldn’t have gotten regardless. Others I thought of included Little Green (Joni Mitchell), Green Green (New Christy Minstrels), Bitter Green (Gordon Lightfoot), Green Green Grass of Home (Tom Jones), Bowling Green (Everly Brothers) and Little Green Bag (George Baker Selection). Some of those might be after 1970, though, and I guess none of them charted high enough.
(verification word: They’re ninjas!

I got 4 right off (Green River, Green Tambourine, Ballad of the Green Berets, Green-eyed Lady). But I’m kicking myself for not remembering Green Onions, I love that song.
But big props to Miss Cellania for getting 7. Especially since they were all before her time. :-)

Barbra Streisand’s “Evergreen”? It does “contain” the word ‘green’.
I love quotation marks!

Way back then I thought my ideal girlfriend would have green eyes. I did seriously date a “Green eyed Lady”, but was shocked to find out she was actually blue eyed with tinted contacts. Oh well, I’ve been happily married to my “Brown eyed Girl” for over 34 years.

Has mental_floss gone green with their magazine? If you need help let me know…
“Green Eye’d Lady” was the only one I got…I dated one too, real green eyes, btw. It was Cold Plays “Green Eyes” though.
