I’m starting to think that a community’s bumper stickers, considered as a whole, can be uncannily revealing. I decided to take my neighborhood’s socio-political temperature by pounding the pavement a little, camera in hand, to see what stickers I could find. The results should make it pretty clear: I live in a deciiiiidedly liberal, downright wacky place — Venice, California. So trip the light fantastic with us for a moment, and check these out:
What? No “REPUBLICANS FOR VOLDEMORT”?

I really like the “Coexist” one, but the “More trees, less Bush” and impeachment ones are kinda funny.

These are great. My area (Port Angeles, Washington) has a lot of “cowboy/girl up” and “Silly boys, trucks are for girls” stickers. I, however have “Hang up and drive”.

I like the wacky ones best. My personal favorite is “Diagonally parked in a parallel universe.”

Love how old and crusty some of the stickers have become… this shows a bit of passion for the particular cause from the vehicle’s owner.

Here in Florida, we have a lot of people still touting “Bush in 04″ on their bumpers. Bleah.

a popular israeli band, hadag nachash, wrote a song called “the sticker song” about common bumper stickers around israel. they also made it rhyme…it’s very catchy.

Bumper stickers really all have the same message… “I’m not going to sell this car anytime soon!”

Along the “Coexist” lines, my favorite is “God is too big to fit inside one religion”
