I know of some European folks who use the real candel method of lighting their tree to this day! They were excited to buy their first string of lights to put on a tree, but still saythat real caldels are WAY better!

As a side note, most of the Christmas lights made in China are made by polictial and religious prisoners who work 16-20 hour days without tools under horrendous conditions.

my dad still speaks of being a kid in NYC in the 1940s and lighting their tree with candles. I remember the 1950s and 60s monstrosities that were huge bulbs, like outdoor lights for your home, that got extremely hot. Glad times have changed!
