The bowl season kicks off this weekend with a matchup between Fresno State and Wyoming, followed by 33 more games culminating in the BCS National Championship Game. There are plenty of wacky sponsors and games in unexpected cities. Can you name the 34 bowl games that will be played this year?

  1. anyone besides me miss the days when it was simply Orange, Rose, Cotton, Sugar, etc?

  2. @TC..I agree. It’s like giving every little league team a trophy so no one feels left out. Almost every college/university gets a bowl as long as they don’t go winless….I guess they don’t want anyone to feel left out….

  3. the MAACO bowl? what the heck is that? the GMAC bowl? this is getting utterly stupid……like TC said above why cant it just be the regular ones…jesus!!

  4. Wow. No more Peach, Florida Citrus, Hall of Fame, Motor City, Tangerine, Aloha, Houston, Freedom… I am waaaaay behind the times.

You know what would be a cool quiz? “Defunct College Bowl or Something I Made Up.”

  5. Got 31… couldn’t figure out how to spell Meineke and didn’t think I needed all the extraneous stuff for the Independence. Considering my alma mater’s conference is tied into the St. Petersburg bowl, not much of an excuse for missing it…

As an aside Mark, there are some awesome old bowl game names – my favorites are the Salad Bowl and the Barcardi Bowl.
