The first photo shows an imprisoned artist with what appears to be one of the cell bars driven upwards thru his jaw and out the top of his head. A bit of a severe punishment for graffiti, don’t you think?
IN ATLANTA, THERES A LOT OF NEAT GRAFFITI THAT SHOW SKILL AND ARE FUN TO LOOK AT. THE ONES THAT SUCK ARE THE BASIC GANG GRAFFITI PAINTINGS WITH SWIRLY LINES AND NUMBERS THAT ONLY THE HUFFERS KNOW WHAT IT MEANS. “CHILDREN”
The graffiti removal one is by an East London graffiti artist called Banksy.
He has done some stunning work around my old stumping ground of Shoreditch, he’s also painted elephants, the Israeli security barrier and put spoof works of art into galleries.
His website (banksy dot com) has a temporary page up at the moment, but Wikipedia has some samples of his work. He also has a book called ‘Wall and Piece”, ISBN 1844137864 which has a lot of his work in it.
If you think these are good, you should see some of his other work.
My former bboy instructor is graffiti artist AKA writer.
It’s real art, not those cheap tags and quick sprays you see everywhere. Check him out. mr-totem.com
If all graffiti were that cleaver, I might not mind having it around.
Unfortunately the ones where I live spend too much time breathing the fumes.

Grafitti is an art. When this media is misused, as any other media, it becomes redundant, saturated and irrelevant.
