This is not a leap year. The following people will have to wait until 2008 to celebrate their actual birthdays:
And a Happy (it’s-not-really-your) Birthday to Pedro Zamora, cast member of the third Real World and AIDS activist born February 29, 1972. Zamora passed away in 1994.
But the most interesting leap year birthday story was that of the Henriksen children. On February 29, 1960, Heidi was born. Four years later to the (leap) day, out popped Olav. And on February 29, 1968, the Henriksens achieved the trifecta with Leif-Martin.
Anyone born on February 29? When do you celebrate in non-leap years?
My mom’s birthday is the 29th. She’s actually disappointed when she has a single day, because all the other years she has a “birthday week.” She doesn’t so much celebrate with a party, but she’s extra-nice to herself.
We turned 11 in the same year, though, which was cool. My birthday is less than 3 weeks after hers. There was an article about us in the local paper (it was a slow news day :).
I’m looking forward to the day I can throw her a big 16th birthday bash. :)

My birthday is 2/29/1960. On non-leap years I tend to start celebrating a week or two before the end of February and continue the celebration into March :)

when a friend of mine born on the 29th turned 20 we threw her a huge 5th birthday party. We did a Winnie the Pooh theme, complete with party hats, pinata, a theme cake with a big #5 candle and pin the tail on Eeyore. We also threatened to have the party at Chuck E. Cheese…

Our wedding anniversary is February 29. We only celebrate every four years, so despite getting married in 1992 we’ve only been married 3 years!

You somehow missed ‘Gary the Retard’ of the Howard Stern Show….

Superman’s birthday is said to be February 29, as well. ((insert “leap” tall buildings joke here))

Does anybody here work at the DMV? How does the government recognize Feb 29th babies? Do they just treat them as if their birthdays were March 1st?
I’m amused by the thought that Ja Rule won’t legally be able to drive his Bentley until he turns sixteen in February 2040, but I have a feeling it doesn’t work that way in reality.
