Actually, bottled water does have a place in society.

I have worked in offices where the building's tap water was horrid. We had no choice but to use the bottled stuff!

Also, sometimes, I have been caught out on the road, and thirsty. I cannot drink coffee or tea after 4 pm if I hope to sleep. And you can only drink so much pop.....

Add to this, the fact that I am diabetic and have certain allergies, and this reduces me to buying a bottle of water --- on those occasions when the supply I brought with me (usually tap water from my home!!) either froze, or went hot and yucky, or I drank it all.

I also keep a certain amount of bottled water on hand at home, because in my town the water mains are old and prone to breaking very often... especially in the 40 below temperatures of Feb & March.

But people who drink bottled water just to drink bottled water or show off, are, of course brain dead.

I wish more people would wake up and realize how bad they're being scammed. People love to bitch about $3/gal gas, yet have no problem plunking down $8/gal for water. And that's even before considering the environmental and health impacts.
