Back about the time that The Green Mile came out, we came to the conclusion that, in our book, Tom Hanks was Actor #1. Or he always seems to be doing number one. In nearly every motion picture in which he appears, there’s a scene that involves (or at least discusses) the act of, well, peeing. So today, with pride in providing you with the absolute best in edutainment, we present the newest mental_floss match-up quiz:
There's No 'P' in Tom Hanks

And if we’ve missed any, feel free to comment!

  1. you missed “look who’s talking too” where mikey goes “pee pee in the potty” and they even do a song and dance about it

  2. Yep, Rebecca, but Tom wasn’t in “Look Who’s Talking Too” — that was John Travolta. The key difference between Travolta and Hanks is that, well, Hanks can dance. Heh.

  3. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t there a scene of him peeing off the luggage after the boat sank in Joe vs. the Volcano? It’s been over a decade since I’ve seen it.

Easy quiz, but great job putting it together–that’s some great trivia!

  4. actually if your refering to the actor who did the voice of mikey it was bruce willis who went pee pee in the potty.

  5. Erak, funny you mention that. I had to watch both “The ‘Burbs” and “Joe vs. the Volcano” over the weekend to see if they fit the quiz… but as far as I could tell, they were pee-free. Of course, I was pretty bleary-eyed by then…

  6. Not sure this would count, but in “Big” “Josh” makes a sleepy path to the bathroom only to find he has become a 30something man overnight and just had to check all the parts and… yep, there too.

  7. Looks like Mr. Hanks could benefit from patent 6,681,419. Here’s a bit of text from it:

A forehead support apparatus for resting a standing users forhead against a wall above a bathroom commode or urinal or beneath a showerhead. Those who are tired and weary and find themselves in need of using a urinal or a commode may find the time required to stand in an upright position excessively long and burdensome. At present, the only option for in any way relieving the stress and tension of a tired or depleted body is to simply place the porehead against the wall onto which the urinal or commode is positioned or attached.

  8. Also-doesn’t have to do with peeing-but he never gets the girl in his movies.

  9. Actually, he does at least in Forrest Gump. Even if it takes a while. Thank God they haven’t made a movie called Gump Junior. Yet, at least.

  10. i wonder why he would demonstrate the act of peeing in evry single movie he does?..i would love to know but ill bet HE not so much eh?
