I remember being mesmerized by the series, which featured different areas of earth, but I wasn’t much looking forward to the part about the icey poles. But David A. made it sound wonderful as he pointed out the lichen clinging to the rocks on one of the dryest places on earth. David Attenborough scrappled around in one of those valleys many years ago in an episode of the “Planet Earth” series for PBS.
