Punahou must be the only American high school which can claim two national Presidents two governors, and two US Senators.

Barack Obama is President of the United Sates and a graduate of Punahou. Incidentally, his classmate was Quentin Kawananakoa who is the theoretical King of Hawaii and who's great Uncle Prince Jonah Kuhio was reining heir to the Hawaiian throne when the monarcy was overthrown.

Sanford B. Dole, also a Punahou graduate, was President of the Hawaii Republic for four years between overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy and annexation by the United States, whereupon, he became territorial Governor of Hawaii.

Hiram Bingham, Punahou graduate, Yale anthropologist, and discoverer of Macchu Pichu was Governor of Connecticut and a US Senator from Connecticut.

So Presidents, Obama and Dole
Governors Dole and Bingham
US Senators Obama and Bingham
and Kuhio was a congressional delegate representing the Territory of Hawaii

Sun Yat-Sen also attended (and is claimed by) two other church affiliated high schools in Hawai'i: Iolani High School (Anglican/Episcopal), and St. Louis High School (Roman Catholic). Punahou was founded by Congregationalists in 1841.

I'm still in high school, but fifteen years ago, Jeremy Delle, who would be immortalized later by the Pearl Jam song "Jeremy", committed suicide in his 2nd-period class. And also Bill Engvall and Anne Rice. They didn't kill themselves, but they did attend my school.
