You forgot Humanure ... not something that most people would trust, and not what the DofA allows, but if composted properly, it's totally safe fertilizer. I have friends who build a solar composting outhouse.. works great! (Although they don't use the product on their CSA farm... don't want to freak out the subscribers).

Also, there's apparently a prison in Nigeria that pipes all poop to a large composter, then harvests the methane for the prison's kitchen.

Uhm, pardon me, I'll be right back... :>D

Maureen,
Actually they are wild. People are following them around. But for hundreds of dollars per pound, wouldn't you?

You forgot to mention Sheep Poo Paper, a native product of Wales (U.K.). Wales has A LOT of sheep and sheep poo is apparently prime material for paper because they digest only a very small percentage of the grass they eat.

During the time of the pharoahs crocodile poop was used as a contraceptive to avoid pregnancy. One would think that the smell alone would be enough to deter copulation...

I can't but wonder about the civet coffee. Seems unhealthy for a civet to be kept in a small cage, and fed little else but coffee beans. I don't suppose people are actually following them around in the wild, and picking up after them. Anyhow, someone brought a bag of the stuff back for us as a gift, so I suppose I'll try it one of these days...

re-captcha: cursive present!
Love the image of curving back to the past...to help answer current questions. Good thing the 'natives' maintained the evolved technologies of their tribes; wonder how much knowledge was lost as Westernized commercial conquerors ground down cultures to make way for progress?

Project #7 sounds great; as any one who has been near a large scale animal lot or pig or dairy operation can attest.

I have a picture from years ago that my aunt sent me - mounted on Buffalo dung paper. It's actually really pretty paper, but none of my friends will touch it because of the source!
