It’s Friday, and I’m regressing…My capacity to absorb information has undergone a bypass–I’m craving any kind of juvenilia; hence, the stats page of whitehousekids.gov! asdlfkj

We know Dubya loves his Mexican food, and the current administration’s kitchen recently marshsurvived the scrutiny of Tim Zagat & co., but here, in no particular order, is a look at what might have been going on in previous presidential incarnations:

THE FAVES:
Hoover: Sweet Potatoes w/ Toasted Marshmallows
Taft: Turtle Soup
Buchanan: Cabbage
Lincoln: Fruit Salad, Cheese, Crackers
Reagan: Jelly Beans
Jackson: Pancakes
Washington: Ice Cream & Fish
Jefferson: Ice Cream, Pancakes, Spoon Breads, Vegetables
(A) Johnson: Fish & Jam
Coolidge: Pancakes
Eisenhower: Vegetable Soup & Steak
(LB) Johnson: Ice Cream, Pancakes, Seafood, Spinach Soufflé, Sweet Potatoes w/Toasted Marshmallows

  1. My kids and I were talking about presidents and food a couple of days ago! I explained why Carter was associated with peanuts, Reagan with ketchup, Bush the first with broccoli, Clinton with Big Macs, and Bush the second with pretzels.

  2. Wasn’t Reagan a big fan of Jelly Belly’s as well?

And whats the deal with so many fans of pancakes? Is that what it takes to become president?

  3. And I’m hoping that Johnson just liked fish and liked jam, and not fish WITH jam. Although…

  4. Pancakes? Oolong for President!
