People love Peeps! The marshmallow chicks and bunnys (and other characters for other holidays) are made by Just Born to fill Easter baskets. But Peeps are not just for eating. You can make them dance or fight, experiment with them, take them on trips, and use them for decoration or pranks. Recreating miniature scenes from life, pop culture, literature, and movies is the area where Peeps really shine!
Am I horrible for laughing at this one? The Day The Marshmallow Died: a plane crash kills Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Peeper. It’s from Great Scenes in Rock and Roll History, as re-enacted by marshmallow peeps.
Lord of the Peeps takes us through many chapters of the Rings Trilogy, portrayed by Peeps.

Peeps in Movies has some wonderful peep scenes from a 2005 competition, including Monty Peepon. There are also links to previous year’s contest entries.
More Peeps on parade, after the jump.

This scene from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is an entry in the York Daily Record 2007 Peeps diorama contest. You can see other contestants in this gallery.

Another entry for the Daily Record, We Come In Peeps was recently featured on Boing Boing.

Spudart featured this rendition of Peeply Field, the Home of the Chicago Peeps, which won a local contest. You can see it from different angles at the site.

Child Fun has ideas for Easter Peep crafts kids can make and enjoy, such as the Easter Basket Cake and Edible Easter Jewelry.

Peter (who doesn’t like Peeps) came to work on his birthday and found his entire office covered in Peeps! The Peeps stayed up for a couple of years, including these on the ceiling.
Some people love Peeps so much, they eat them before any projects are completed. Others swear that they taste better after six months. Some can’t stand the taste at all, but will use them for other purposes. How do you feel about Peeps?
And did you know Williams-Sonoma has a kit for amking your own ‘peeps’ at home!

I don’t know how anyone can willingly ingest a peep. I guess these are the same people who like the Good N’ Plenty candy as well? Do they enjoy rug burn too?

I’ve loved peeps since i was a little girl. In college I even joined the peeps official fan club just to show my support for those totally artificial, fabulously delicious little fellers. And to those who wonder how we lovers can willingly ingest a peep, I respond with the only intelligent comment my former mother-in-law ever made: “That’s why there’s Luckies and Camels.” I personally find raisins disgusting, but I don’t berate their consumers. So let me have my peeps, and eat them too!

Oh, Rebecca – if you find peeps disgusting, read no further.
I have always loved peeps. My wife hated them – what’s to like about flavorless whipped sugar covered with colored, but still flavorless crystalline sugar? Then, on a whim, she roasted one over a gas flame. The outside melts and hardens like a Crème brûlée and the inside softens like a marshmallow.
As Gary Larson wrote, “Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside.” Now we both eat them like that.

Roasted Peeps! I’ll have to add that to my recipe book.

Ooooooh… I love roasted Peeps! And to think, I only tried it because we were out of marshmallows. If you don’t like peeps, trust me, they’re better this way.

Microwaved Peeps come in a close second. Mmmm!

I’m not too big on overly sugary stuff, so peeps have never really appealed to me, but the roasted peeps sound pretty good! I’ll have to try that some time.

You peep-persons are on to something..roasted peeps…heavenly. Now let’s work them into a balanced diet. Peeps filled with fruit, bran flakes, cheese cube and so forth. BUT peeps topping for Hot Fudge Sunday? I’m in.

Put a Peep on a paper plate in the micowave and cook it. They blow up (expand not pop). Just be careful not to overcook them or your house/office will smell like burnt sugar. They taste like they’ve been roasted.

WOW !
I feel like I have found my home tribe!
The best thing I have found to do with this colorful little critters (other then eat them) is to sacrifice them on a campfire.
The bunnies with ears and the ghost with eyes are especially entertaining to watch.
You don’t just toss them in the flames, you position them stragtically on logs so you can watch them burn slowly.

I’ve heard a rumor that a peep in a bell-jar will explode….I’m trying it for my freshmen science classes soon (with a measure of practice, first, of course). :)

I love Peeps! My fiance can’t stand them. I love them stale. The longest I can go with an opened package waiting to get hard is three days. I tried microwaving once. The peep was on the verge of exploding. I’ll have to try roasting them. Now I really want some!

Oh my! All my friends think I’m nuts ‘cuz I love peeps! Now I can tell them I have actual PROOF that I’m not the only one! I never thought of roasting them though. Now I will have to go buy some and find a place to have a campfire this weekend! Yum!

we had a practical joker in our office; always getting someone with something. payback day came. he was invited to a breakfast meeting one day. while he was gone, a crew of men came and decorated his cubicle. they decorated his truck. they decorated his parking stall. they left a trail of peeps from his truck through the parking lot, across the street, through a second parking lot, to the elevator, from the elevator to the office, down the hall to his spot and there the finale. COVERED EVERYWHERE with peeps. Oh, they covered his pickup but in the back was a 6 foot tall peep. it was so funny; except for all the peeps that lost their lives needlessly in the roadways.

why can’t modern science come up with a cross between strawberry marshmallows (possibly the best candy out there – yeah, I said it!) and peeps? I could be out of date though as some of these types of peeps are new to me – are these to be found in Alberta? i only ever see them in chick form at easter…

Oh, how I love PEEPS dioramas. Great post!

Erin, on Valentine’s Day they have heart-shaped Peeps that are strawberry flavoured!
Three-day old Peeps are my favourite.

PEEPS are definitely better after they’ve been out of the package for a few days! YUM!

Three years ago for Easter, Moravian Seminary in Bethlehem, PA, recreated the events of Holy Week entirely in Peeps.

I can’t believe, with all of the microwaving peeps suggestions here, nobody’s said anything about Peeps jousting! Two Peeps Chicks in the microwave (each a different color), stick a toothpick in the front of each and microwave. As they blow up, they joust! The first one to poke the other wins!
And stale Peeps=chewy heaven!

I’m going to try roasting them, but as a kid my grandmother gave me FROZEN peeps. I still eat them that way.
posted by John C on 3-19-2008 at 4:29 pm
Yes! I love frozen peeps, too! I am unfortunately in a college dorm room with a pathetic mini fridge/freezer that only allows me about one cubic foot of freezer space. Around this time of year, the frozen dinner entrees and the pints of ice cream get eliminated in favor of my frosty marshmallow friends. I think I’ll go eat one right now…

Did you know that there are RED Peeps that are exclusively only available at Target stores?
You know a candy has made it when there is exclusive versions of it based in the biggest retail stores around.
