Jason Alexander was in the L.A. version of the Producers about 3 years ago. He played the Nathan Lane character (forgot name) and was pretty amazing actually.

you must be kidding, this is the single greatest 80′s commercial ever. Horrible clothes, a huge chunk of Styrofoam, white people trying to dance and a bye gone food product… It makes me feel 15-ish again…

The sad thing is, if you re-aired that commercial now, it might actually make McDonald’s ironically hip among 20-somethings — it’s like the fast food equivalent of Pabst Blue Ribbon.

It’s this kind of schlock that makes TV unbearble. It’s an ad but it could just as easily be an episode of an American “sitcom.” This is the reason why the rest of the world thinks the US is ridiculous and of course our President who would fit well in the ad. Can’t you just see him sarcastically saying other “buger” makers have got it all wrong.

I remember the McDLT, never actually had one, but the commercials were definitely memorable. I also recall David Letterman doing a spoof of the commercial one time.

I remember when they test-marketed this in Hannibal, calling it the “Lettuce and tomato Special.” What an inspiring name!

My beef was that I wanted the cheese melted! Should have been on the hot side. That was surely their downfall.

I remember this well. I was appalled that they had to design a new clamshell with MORE styrofoam to lead us into thinking the hamburgers are fresh, when they could have just put them together as you order it.

He sings in the Brandy version of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, too. (definitely NOT the finest production of that show I’ve ever seen!)
