John Hart was a gentle soul, a devout Christian (which I am not), and an acute observer of the humour and sadness of the human condition. He will be missed, as are Charles Schultz and Shel Silverstein, who contributed much to the same area of insight.

Speculation rages over whether B.C. is set in pre-historic days or whether it represents a far-future post-apocalyptic era. Allegedly Johnny Hart refused to confirm either scenario.

so glad to see a little recognition for the BC strip. I used to buy the books from scholastic i think. I still have a yellowed copy of BC Right On! I remember I had to look up definitions from time to time, and didn’t get all the jokes at the time, but I loved the way they tooled around on the wheel. One of my fave characters was the midnight Skulker. (had to look up Skulking)
