I don’t know about you, but my day’s been awesome. But maybe that’s just because I’m not suffering from paraskavedekatriaphobia and I’m not living in a Norse myth. The one that’s helped give 13 a bad name involves a Valhalla dinner party gone wrong…12 gods were throwing down, and when Loki–the uninvited, 13th god–showed up, he was so offended at the extent of their good time that he tricked the blind god of darkness into killing the god of joy and gladness; hence, the mayhem of thirteen. And a further note on dinners would be, of course, the Last Supper and how Judas made 13. The weekday component came one Friday the 13th in 1307, the date King Philip IV (aka Philip the Fair, not to be confused w/Philip the Handsome) had the Knights Templar arrested.
I had a terrible day yesterday. I had been planning a trip to London, and the flight was canceled at the last minute. The next four flights were all too full, so I ended up not going. I have been planning this trip for four months now, and have wanted to go to London since I was seven.

Sorry Allison, but I had a F13 day from hell as well. Had a house sale supposed to close, then all parties involved stopped communicating and I had to solve that before it fell through, an old man tried to pick a fight with me, and my car’s engine blew 3 cylinders. Bleeah! Freaky Friday.

According to a spelling test I took in 4th grade, the fear of the number 13 is triskaidekaphobia. As yes, I still remember the correct spelling to this day. Did I remember that all these years for nothing?

wow…tough third grade! and yes, that’s the fear of the #13; paraskavedekatriaphobia is derived from greek words meaning 13, friday, and phobia…
