LOL Cats: I Can Has Cheezburger
by Chris Higgins - April 18, 2007 - 12:01 PM

Over the past few days, we’ve shown you several flavors of LOL Cats. Today’s focus, the famous “I Can Has Cheezburger?” LOL Cats (the premiere LOL Cats blog is named for this image). The cheezburger cats appear to have started with this guy:

I Can Has Cheezburger?

Check out many variations and responses to the original cheezburger cat after the jump.

Note how these cats display extreme grammar and spelling issues. What does this mean? I can only assume that LOL Cats haven’t finished grade school yet.

No You Can't Has Cheezburger

No More Cheeseburgers

OMG!

Look, a LOL Dog!

I Prolly Can't Has Cheezburger

Ew...Dis Not Cheezburgerz

More Cheezburger Cats at the eponymous I Can Has Cheezburger blog.

  1. I assumed the people behind I Can Has Cheezburger were german. Anyway, I always read the text in a german accent. Somehow, it makes sense…

  2. Don’t ask me why, but that original cat gave me the giggles. I’m sitting at my desk trying not to laugh, and I can’t explain what’s so damn funny about that.

  3. Jane, why German?? It’s just a pun with “has” and “can”. Really awesome!

  4. Man, I love this cat’s attitude! I know what I want now. I want a cheeseburger!

  5. These kinds of memes usually make fun of people with bad grammar, so LOL cats do too. I love ‘em though!

  6. That’s so funny Jane… i was reading w/ a German accent too! You’re right, it just makes sense.

  7. poor cheeseburger hampster! wait… is that a carnivorous bunny?

  8. No, lolcats do not make fun of people with bad grammar. It’s assumed that if kittens and cats could talk that they would have bad grammar.

  10. ha ha ha… you are funny! i found it hard to suck on your comment as it was in my computer screen! anyway, the german accent so works…so does an indian one

  11. I am sure that this photo and caption was originally posted by someone who had only a small command of English. I think that should be kept in mind before anyone else levels out some insults. As for German specifically, who knows? They say American English is the most difficult to learn.

  12. I think the feeling that the cat is speaking with a German accent comes from his resemblance to Heimlich, the fat caterpillar in Bug’s Life who speaks with a German accent!

  13. ROFL

  14. No way the poor grammar comes from there gleamy shiny view of the world… this why its so cute! Although I do see your point Russ!

    Gotta love the lolz cats!
