I have never characterised LOLspeak with any nationality, so I’ve never taken it as insulting. If I’ve ‘voiced’ the captions in my head, it’s always been with a cutesy baby voice.

I’ve simply taken these as what the featured animal was thinking; they hadn’t learned the whole grammar/context/spelling thing.

I think the feeling that the cat is speaking with a German accent comes from his resemblance to Heimlich, the fat caterpillar in Bug’s Life who speaks with a German accent!

I am sure that this photo and caption was originally posted by someone who had only a small command of English. I think that should be kept in mind before anyone else levels out some insults. As for German specifically, who knows? They say American English is the most difficult to learn.
