Screen Caps from Movies
by Chris Higgins - April 14, 2010 - 4:43 PM

This is nice: Screen Caps is a site presenting HD-quality screen captures from movies, without commentary or explanation. Just big crazy screen caps, many of them suitable for desktop wallpaper. Below are a few of my favorites (sized down to fit this blog) — can you figure out what movies they’re from?

Warning: there is a tiny bit of cartoon nudity on the Screen Caps site. In general I’d say it’s NSFW if people are totally checking out your business; there’s also one live-action screen cap of some bare rears in the distance. No big deal, but just thought I’d warn ya.

  1. Awesome! 2 Road Warrior screencaps. I know I’ve seen the 4th one, but I’m not sure where…

  2. Ok, my guesses:

    First one, The Road Warrior

Second one, I want to say–and this is a stretch way back in my mind–King Kong vs. Godzilla?

Third one, also the Road Warrior?

    Fourth one. Apollo 13?

I could be way off on these though.

  3. I’m actually not sure what these are all from, due to the mysterious nature of the site. I think the Road Warrior guesses are correct (though one or the other might actually be from Mad Max?).

The final shot appears to be from a documentary about the moon shot, given its aspect ratio.

  4. ok, I have since visited the site. The last one does seem to be some documentary produced well before Apollo 13. Thanks for the interesting link Chris!

  5. @Scott, Apollo 13 never went to the moon.

  6. @ufluffed, Apollo 13 did go to the moon, however just like Apollo 8 and Apollo 10 it just orbited and did not land. This is probably from a documentary on Apollo 11. @Scott the lawyer, I had a flashback to my childhood and also guessed King Kong vs Godzilla.

  7. Earth to the Moon maybe?
Mothra is the other Japanese SciFi.

  8. I know I’m being a killjoy… but just as a heads-up some of the pictures are NSFW. But I heartily recommend the site if you happen to not be at W. :-)

  9. Oops.. just saw the warning at the end of the article… disregard my comment!

  10. Ha!

  11. last one should be Airplane II: The Sequel

  12. 1 looks like Mad Max

    2 I’m not sure

    3 is Mad Max

    4 I’m not sure.
