In the United States, exactly 15 metropolitan areas are lucky enough to be home to professional sports teams in the “Big Three” – baseball (MLB), football (NFL), and basketball (NBA). Your goal? Name as many of the 15 as you can in only three minutes. A winning score is 10 of 15, or 67 percent. Good luck!

What about Seattle? Supersonics, Seahawks, and Mariners.

Nancy, that answer would have worked in 2008, but Seattle’s NBA franchise moved to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder.

I hope not too many old Sonics fans see Nancy’s comment! (The Supersonics picked up and moved to Oklahoma City a couple years ago.)

Nancy, welcome to 2010! The Supersonics moved to OKC to become the Thunder a few seasons ago.

Sorry about the echo effect there! Seems Sandy and Jason were a bit quicker on the keyboard than I.

Big THREE! THREE! Major loss of respect here. There are FOUR major sports in America. And in the middle of the NHL playoffs….

Hockey is not a major sport. Their playoff games are being shown on Versus, for goodness sake.

NateH, as a resident of Hockeytown, I understand your point. But the quiz wouldn’t have been the same with the NHL added, since it would have reduced the number of answers from 15 down to 12 (if I’m counting correctly)… and then I’d have to extend the time since more teams were involved. I hope you can appreciate why I left the NHL out of the mix.

What’s the NHL? Is that soccer? We don’t really follow soccer in America. Just kidding. The NHL is WAAAY more interesting and compelling than the soporific MLB.

I got them all but Cleveland, except that Cleveland doesn’t have an NHL Hockey team … substitute Pittsburgh and you have an accurate list

I missed 2.
Philadelphia I just flat-out missed. Denver popped into my mind literally as the clock went from :01 to :00. So I think that should count.

ScottG — the sports were basketball, football, and baseball — NOT hockey.

Oakland is a total sleeper on that list.
