In Really Bad Taste

octopus-dumpling_soda.jpgThe Japanese site 3Yen has a photo of what they’re dubbing “the worst beverage in the history of mankind”—a carbonated soda flavored to taste like Octopus Dumplings?! Of course, Jones Soda’s Turkey and Gravy delight probably gives the dumpling-licious beverage a run for it’s money, but I was definitely curious to guzzle a sip-ful and judge for myself. At least until I heard the ingredient list: “made with the flavors of diced octopus, tempura scraps (tenkasu), pickled ginger, konnyaku, and green onion, topped with okonomiyaki sauce, green laver (aonori), mayonnaise, and katsuobushi (fish shavings).” Yum!

  1. when i was in japan, i found that i really liked the taste of takoyaki!
    (your aforementioned,octopus dumplings). however, i can’t say i would hazard a taste of takoyaki liquified (and canned), despite the fact that my friends and i all tried the hot corn chowder drink out of the vending machines in kabukicho.
