As a native of San Francisco, I'm not sure whether I should be offended that no one notices the SF refrences in the painting, or flatered that everyone assumes that this must be only LA.

My favorite modern interpretation of the Inferno was entitled just that but written by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle (sci-fi writers).

It's about an author who finds himself in the first Circle of Hell and decides to go deeper.

I've read this book three times. It's quite entertaining with it's contemporary issues and characters.

I bought my husband the 3 books about 2 years ago, as presents. At that time, both of us used to work at Barnes & Noble and my husband (being kind of a nerd), loved these as soon as they came in the store. I can't say that I have read the books myself but the illustrations are truly beautiful; and he still loves re-reading them from time to time.

They make great presents people! :)
