Or in this case, cannons into children’s swings. The cannon in question was left behind by Nazi troops retreating from a Soviet village during WWII. From the ever-fascinating site englishrussia.

Speaking of whimsical uses for guns, our iron curtain comrades have also devised this little number. While the gun won’t shoot (it’s fake, duh) it’ll sure get you loaded. And hey, as long as we’re celebrating the intoxicating AK-47, take a detour to the Kalashnikov museum.gun.jpg

  1. Wow, that vodka bottle would make a great gift to some comrades of mine!

  2. My swingset growing up was welded together out of old irrigation and drill pipe by a family friend. Quite servicable (and sturdy). I wish I had a picture of it…

  3. Isn’t the title of this post from the deleted song that Starsky sang in Fiddler on the Roof?

  4. It may be, but it’s in Isaiah 2:4 as well.

“And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”

  5. Ol’ Mikhail K. sure does have alot of grain fields though. That Kalashnikov is expensive however, someday I’m sure we can get it in the US.
