Weekend Word Wrap: famous words
by David K. Israel - May 17, 2007 - 5:29 PM

martinluther.jpgI thought I’d use the Wrap to drop in the latest soundbite quiz, as it’s all about famous words from the mouths of folks you should recognize. You think you know your famous quotations? Check out these snippets and test your knowledge. As always, I open up the Wrap for you to rap down in the comments. What’s your favorite quote of all time? One, perhaps, I left off the quiz?

  1. I got 13/15.
Not only did I get the astronauts backwards, I assigned the wrong identities. I figured they were Neil Armstrong and Jim Lovell. I guess it would have been too easy if you gave us the names.

  2. 93%. How do I manage to get ONE wrong on a matching quiz? Thats happened twice now! I blame my typing, since I knew the correct answers.

  3. Got ‘em all, but found the faces were the most challenging aspect. Agree names would have made this too easy.

  4. I got 100% as well. This was a good quiz — need more like it (and yes, leaving teh names off was a good call). One thing, though: a number of the soundbites still had their identifying descriptions attached (e.g. “Babe Ruth Farewell to Baseball”). If you aren’t careful, that can give it away inadvertently.

Oh, while not a big fan of her politics, I really love the way Eleanor Roosevelt spoke. It’s a wonderful “American educated upperclass” speech that has practically disappeared. Nowadays, their speech (and education undoubtedly) has been dumbed down to that of the general populice.
