I saw this sign posted outside an old age community center the other day. Now I know they must be quoting someone famous, right? Was it Lincoln who uttered these prophetic words? Or JFK? Who was it?
I am pretty sure that Gabe Lincoln said it. He’s the head janitor at this community center…

Where I work (an R&D engineering center), whoever makes up the signs is similarly challenged. There are frequent misspellings and they add punctuation all over with little rhyme nor reason. I’ve tried to explain to our facilities folks that having these in visitor-visible locations makes us look like morons, but they don’t seem to get it.

I think probably my grandmother said it, she’s the type who used to worry that tickling somebody would injure thier internal organs

However, the small ones have free reign to speed around denting cars and hitting children.

At the college I attended they were overzealous with the quotation marks, things like “exit,” “telephone,” and “storage.”

Add the egregious use of superflous quote marks to the apostrophes that litter the landscape like trash (CD’s???? Saw this today in the window of a music shop)! It’s enough to make me quote my friend (a former editor) who says, “We live in a world without editors.” Proper use of quote marks, by the way.

I’m afraid I’m “guilty” of improper use of punctuation. In school I, just, was unable to grasp the concepts of; commas, apostrophe’s, and “quotation” marks.
