It’s sometimes shocking to find the foreign origin of standard English words. In this sequel (from the Latin “sequÄ“la,” or “what follows), match the English word to its language of origin.
Take the Quiz: Language of Origin: Part Deux
And take the original while you’re at it.
Nice! 100% I’m feeling validated.

While the town of Plzen is in the Czech Republic, the region was once largely German-speaking. The German name for Plzen is Pilsen, and Pilsner is the adjectival form in German. Therefore, the etymology of the word is German, not Czech. The Czech equivalent is “Plzensky.” The famous beer from the town “Pilsner Urquell” is its German name; the Czechs call it “Plzensky Staropramen.”
