The musical artist Sufjan Stevens actually has a short musical interlude dedicated to this story on his album, The Avalanche.

The pictures show great individuality, but I have to say the story sounds like a complete puddle of drivel, along the lines of Hubbard's Mission Earth series.

I highly recommend watching "In The Realms Of The Unreal." I'd say "fascinating" is a perfect word for it; the whole situation completely blows my mind. Darger clearly had some problems stemming from his childhood (which they outline in the film), and the way it comes out in his artwork is so unbelievably vivid and detailed, that it's hard to even fathom one person creating it all. In my opinion, his body of work runs circles around the work of most "normal" artists of the 20th century.

You can learn about Henry Darger's life and see a great deal of his work animated (!) in the brilliant little film, In The Realms Of The Unreal.
