Last week’s round-up of Shortcuts for Mundane Tasks seems to have been popular—so here’s part II! Check out these quick tricks that will save you time and money.

How to fast-pour ketchup.

How to seal a bag of chips without a clip.

How to put on a shirt inside-out (skip to 0:21 to save yourself the footage of a skateboarding preteen).

How to make a quick sorbet (I was skeptical, but this site says it checks out).

How to open a beer with a pen.

How to sharpen razorblades and reuse them for years.

  1. Nice tips.

You missed the “fold a shirt in 2 seconds.”

The beer/pen trick works with a lot of things (use your imagination) – I usually go with a lighter.

I wonder if the razor blade trick is like honing a knife blade.

  2. I thought everyone knew the Heinz 57 “trick.” Point the bottle down and hit it where it says “57.” I must say, the razor blade thing works- awesome!

  3. The sharpening razor blade trick doesn’t work. It works a little bit but a “sharpened” blade compared to a new one is night and day. Save yourself lots of toilet paper dots and replace your blade.

  4. Rob, the tshirt thing was in last week’s post.

  5. I just shaved with my “renewed” blade and it worked great. No nicks at 10pm at night with about three days growth. Brilliant!

  6. more! more! more!

  7. I’ve been using the same razor blade for about 6 months using the forearm honing trick. It’s still going strong.

YMMV; I’m one of those guys that doesn’t have to shave daily.

  8. Does anyone else see the humor in watching all these videos online to learn how to save time? That being said, I just watched them all and I’m going to make sure my boyfriend knows about the razor one. He’s really cheap about those things anyway… He’ll probably love it.

  9. I learned the ketchup technique when I waited tables at Johnny Rockets. I can still impress people with that skill. ;)
