The caldera volcano that gave rise to Crater Lake can be found in various forms throughout the world. Another good example is the Greek island of Santorini. Unlike Crater Lake there are 2 villages that are perched on the rim of the crater and the views looking down at the blue Aegean are spectacular.From the artwork in Oia to the vineyards and restaurants in Thira there is much to see and do. My only recommendation would be to avoid the donkeys that transport tourists up and down the cliffs at all cost.
