They were my favorite as a kid! I think I still remember all their skits.

Oh, I loved that skit. Sesame Street premiered when I was two, and believe me, I grew up on it. I used to run around the house going “yip yip yip yip, uh-huh, uh-huh.”

My mom’s 69 years old now, but I bet if she weren’t ill, and I made that noise, she’d STILL roll her eyes at me and laugh.

(My older brother’s favorite phrase was a similar one that folks who watched the Little Rascals might remember — “Yum yum, eat ‘em up.”)

I don’t know about anyone else, but these guys kind of freaked me out as a kid. Though the “yip yip yip yip. Uuh-huh. Uuh-huh” still makes me giggle.

I always thought they were saying “yep” and in “yes”. For example; when they look at the clock and consult the book they say “earth person tall” they then look at the clock and say “Tall?” then “Yep yep yep uh-huh uh-huh”. “Uh-huh” as in “I agree”. Anyone agree with my thoughts?

I was absolutely terrified of these creatures growing up. When I was five, I was in bed with a sprained ankle, watching Sesame Street when their segment suddenly came on–I couldn’t find the remote & started shrieking…But my father was mowing the lawn and no one heard me…Until now.

These things freaked me out as a child. I hardly ever watched Sesame Street because of it. Nobody else seems to remember them!

I forgot to mention, I *really* want a copy of that book they’re looking at. At my office, we’ve taken to saying “yip yip yip yip book book book book” when we come across anything unknown.

My daughter Allie and I love the Yip Yips and she insists on watching them before bed.
