Killer Home Decor
by Miss Cellania - June 19, 2007 - 5:31 AM

Have you ever had visions of living like The Addams Family? Or maybe you just want to make your family and friends wonder about you. No matter how normal your home decor is, it’s fun to have something around to make people gasp, and then (maybe) laugh. But if you put all the products I found together, you’d have a truly scary home.

Let’s start with the front door. The Los Angeles Coroner’s Office sells welcome mats with their body outline logo through the Skeletons in the Closet gift shop. You can also find this design on office supplies and clothing.

No reason to have an ordinary pull on your lights or ceiling fan, when you could reach for the Hanging Harry light pull.

More household horrors, after the jump.

Heading upstairs, the adventure continues when you see the Body Fluid Stairway Carpet. Too bad this isn’t yet available to the public.

Artist Keetra Dean Dixon designed the Blood Puddle Pillow, handy when you want to take a catnap on the floor, or your desk. Just hope that Mom doesn’t walk in and see you!

For the bed, the perfect accessory for a certain kind of movie buff would be this Godfather Horsehead Pillow. Not the kind of fan who likes National Velvet or Seabiscuit.

In the bathroom, imagine stepping into the shower and pulling the curtain closed… to reveal the knife-weilding shadow from Psycho!

The kitchen is a wonderful place to keep your weapons, um, I mean surprise your guests. The Voodoo Knife Block not only stores your knives in an easy-to-reach manner, but putting them away helps you vent your frustrations, too!

I had almost forgotten that my own kitchen has a surprise, too! I made myself some custom canisters to match the kitchen color many years ago, and put an extra label on the back of the sugar can. If anyone wants sugar in their tea, I’m glad to oblige.

  1. Sorta makes me wish I had a bigger house in which I could incorporate these decorator items… but I’ve a hunch the old lady wouldn’t approve.

  2. I have that knife set, cuts like a champ (and makes a great conversation piece!)

  3. Don’t forget ‘Dead Fred’ (in the website link above) the pen holder. :)

  4. imangine using the knife holder and thrusting the knifes in the guy with a twisted look on your face. that would be classic

  16. i think evryfink is awesome how much r dey

  17. My mother bought a new labelmaker, and proceeded to label all the containers in the kitchen. We don’t have salt though, we have shakers of anthrax. And she’s been known to label packages of frozen meat with former pet’s names.

  18. X-D! Maggie, your mother sounds AWESOME!

*runs off to buy label-maker* !

  19. that shower curtain is creepy..

  20. Maggie, I wanna be friends with your mom.

  21. Wow, I love them all! Except, i’m not so keen on the horse head, and the we don’t have showers crutains( sigh)

  22. The body fluid carpet picture looks like a PhotoShop job to me.

  23. I WANT THE VODOO KNIFE BLOCK! The others are kinda creepy but this one is half creepy, half designer cool.

  24. This is really fun to look at. Maybe I’m just sick and twisted, but I would love any or all of those things in my house. But not around my baby … :-(

  25. YAY! I have a friend in Denmark now, wonder if I can get her to investigate the carpet… :-)

  26. These are so neat! And I too want to be Maggie’s mom’s friend – there’s a lady after my heart!

  27. You can actually buy the knife holder at thinkgeek.com. It’s called “The Ex”.

  28. LOVE the arsenic can – I laughed out loud when I saw that one. If anyone had been around, they would have thought I had lost it. Great stuff, the shower curtain is a KILLER too!

  29. Delightfully morbid – I want one of everything too!

  30. umm…..where can I get these things?

  36. Very unusual stuff, great finds!

  37. Hey, great stuff! Did you make those canisters with old coffee tins? I was thinking of making some with the left over cans from my daughter’s infant formula.

  38. Yes, Shannon! I used leftover paint after I painted my kitchen cabinets, so they matched perfectly. Not so much, now that I’ve moved to a different house…

  39. I love the Body Fluid Stairway Carpet it was very nice that was a Ideas for home decorating it was great…!

  40. Very interesting.

  41. first off…Maggie will your mother adopt me? she sounds like a blast to live with.

i would love the welcome mat, and the shower curtain in the guest bathroom would litterally be a scream. i can’t imagine very many longtime unwanted guests. the knife set is a MUST HAVE, and the horse head pillow looks like it would make a great body pillow, gives new meaning to the stuffed toys we all claim to have outgrown. the hanging man off the ceiling light is just a little too creepy for my taste, and the carpet may look cool, but i just see allergens and mishaps while vaccuming. the canasters though are a great little idea, i may just have to try that, expecially for hallowe’en parties.

  42. Thank-You for your very clever post. It made me laugh!

  43. Maggie’s mom sounds like my cup of tea… In my house I am the only vegetarian and often I make clucking sounds when cooking chicken, mooey sounds when serving beef… putting pets names on frozen meat…? Now that’s a step beyond! When asked what’s for dinner I say ‘critter’.

  44. What a cool ideas. Really all of them are original and give your home a different touch!!

  45. LOVE it! I am a Forensic Science student so these items would be perfectly normal in my house right next to my Jack the Ripper stuff!

  46. OK. I like the body fluid stairway carpet…Pretty snappy.

  47. Ok- I really got a laugh out of the horse head in the bed. Is that guy related to Catherine the Great..? lol

  48. Pat, it’s a reference to the the movie The Godfather.

  49. I must say the blood stained carpet is my favorite. Took me a minute to get it but once I did I can see it as being pretty funny.

  50. What a scary home decor ideas and products… Amazing.

  51. Loved it all but the shower curtain. Flash back to the movie. Eeeeeeeek. I should get a hold of them I make skull and crossbone towels http://www.kathysteig.com

  52. These are hilarious! I came here while poking around for serious stuff but this is great. I may have to rethink my whole redecorating plans. Thank you.

  53. I got the horsehead pillow from Kropserkel last month. You can buy it stuffed and pay more for shipping or buy it unstuffed, stuff it yourself and pay less for shipping.

  54. Great finds! Really gets you thinking about how to develop a unique living experience.
