Ball State has a David Letterman scholarship – to be eligible, you must have a “C” average.

I received a scholarship for having a grandparent who was a WWII veteran. Not that unusual, except that they never knew my grandfather fought for the Germans.

I got a $500 scholarship from TSA (Technology Students Association) after having taken one technology class in highschool and participating in and winning district and state competitions in desktop publishing and portrait photography. (not even digital photography) I never really learned much about technology at all…

The Art Buchwald Scholarship at the University of Southern California’s School of Journalism (now part of the Annenberg School for Communication) is $5000 for humor writing — the rules state something to the effect of “The winner must be contemptuous of all authority, even the award itself. If an applicant is on probation for something he or she wrote, that should be considered a plus.”

I got a $500 dollar scholarship from the local Optimist club for playing Monopoly. The final game was on a life sized board.
