It’s a pie. No it’s a cake. No, it’s cherpumple. “What is cherpumple?” you ask. Well, to put it simply, it’s like the turducken of the dessert world. It is a layered cake with a pie baked in every layer. You can learn more about the creation and how to make your own in the video above.
While the treat may not be the healthiest thing you can be eating, it’s certainly a great way to satisfy both cake and pie lovers all at once. I would certainly try it, although I’d hate to get stuck with the entire leftovers.
Have you ever made or tried a franken-dessert like this? If so, what was it?
I feel like this cake/pie would give me diabetes immediately.

I made a pie filled with ice cream, cupcakes, chocolate mousse, and all covered in meringue for a Baked Alaska effect. It was disgusting and awesome.

There’s a recipe for “Charlotte Africanne” in one of Julia Child’s books. It’s cake… made from left over cake. It sounds like a stunt Sandra Lee would try to pull, but it’s actually good.

Baked Alaska is the classic of this genre…ice cream over cake layered with merengue to keep the ice cream frozen while the cake is warmed and the merengue cooks.

You know, I think a one layer version of this may not be too bad! I may have to try the spice cake/apple pie layer at Thanksgiving.

My wife makes all sorts of brownie combinations like s’mores with marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate chips with brownies and a layered brownie cake with ice cream and banana pudding in the layers.

My daughter-in-law is planning to make this for my grandson’s 22nd birthday. We were discussing a chocolate layer with a pecan pie in it.

Family baked a 2 layer version for 8 people. They were only able to eat half of it at the first sitting. It was fun and delicious even at 11 p.m. e.s.t.
The electric stove died after all the baking now dad will have his turn at the stove.
