Mr. & Mrs. Bandacol were good parents, with five children – all boys. By a happy coincidence, you can tell the age of each of the Bandacol boys by their names. Louie is 21, twins Cliff & Ernst are each 9, and Mario is 17. Given this information…

How old is Shane? And why?
Here is the SOLUTION.

  1. Oooo, got it :)

  2. me too…..i must have had my brain food this morning.

  3. I got it in a round about way. I went simple and gambled that the difference in numbers was significant. 17 is four less than 21 so I supposed that 9+4=13+4=17+4=21 and that’s how I got my answer.

  4. Got it!

  5. I counted vowels and consonants, total of 5 letters per name X #vowels + #consonants.

  6. Another method is to count the first vowel for 9 points and each subsequent vowel for 4 points. Works too!

  7. You could get the same result by ignoring the consonants.
    Cliff, Ernst have 1 vowel,
    Shane has 2, Mario has 3 and Louie 4.. so
    putting them in the ascending order
    9 x 17 21 => x = 13

  8. what is the next letter in this series? A,A,A,S,A,O…
